AM ENGINEER

Biography

Gil first gained his mechanical appreciation as an automotive technician in 2004 eventually becoming a Workshop Manager / Foreman / Lead Technician at a European car specialist in Melbourne, Australia. His thirst for knowledge combined with a love of fast cars and machines led him to complete a Bachelors in Mechatronics & Advanced Manufacturing at RMIT University. It was there he was introduced to the world of additive manufacturing and to Michael Fuller (CEO) where his career at Conflux Technology began.

At Conflux

Joining Conflux in April 2018 as a graduate on the launch team, Gil has had the opportunity to develop his skills in an AM, specialising in laser-based powder bed (LPBF) technology. He was the first person to be officially trained externally to EOS as a Field Service Engineer (FSE) on EOS M Systems in the APAC region. Experience gained on the inner workings of LPBF systems gave rise to a hands-on holistic approach to the development of material specific custom exposure parameters and strategies. Gil has contributed to Conflux’s AM factory management, production process development, post-processing development and Conflux Core heat exchanger test and validation rigs.

In January 2021, Gilbert was promoted to Senior Additive Manufacturing Engineer and continues to lead and drive continual improvement of the Conflux AM team and the Conflux AM capabilities.

"I’m grateful for the opportunity to tackle sustainability challenges at the bleeding edge of additive manufacturing technology, combining it with world-leading heat exchange innovation, supported by a truly skilled team of experts. At the end of the day, we’re trying to cool down the planet by sticking metal dust particles together with light! "
